While in Kentucky for Amanda and Ben’s wedding, I had some downtime to go explore the area. I took a random drive down the small windy roads to see what I could find. I couldn’t believe the fields of corn or grass that went on as far as the eye could see! I loved all the “rustic” barns and the clouds. They were just amazing. Here’s the beautiful landscape I encountered.

Amanda & Ben’s Kentucky wedding was out of this world. The wedding was held at Camp Wakon Da’Ho which was so picturesque. The ceremony was held in a beautiful clearing in the woods overlooking a serene lake with the most amazing barn off to the side. The reception was on the other side of the camp in a rustic pavilion filled with little lights and country touches. A BBQ dinner followed by the upbeat music of a Bluegrass Band kept the crowd dancing all night long. The roasting of marshmallows over the campfire under the stars was the perfect ending to the perfect day.

I really truly love it when couples personalize everything about their wedding. Amanda grew up in Kentucky and attended Camp Wakon Da’Ho as a child. Her mother is a board member at the camp, her sisters grew up going there, her dad is an active part of the camp and most of her bridal party are camp friends. As you can imagine it’s a very special place for her and her family. The ceremony in the beautiful clearing in the woods was officiated by the couples parents. Ben’s parents and Amanda’s mom are all clergy members so it was a very personal and meaningful ceremony. Other touches included the toasting glasses which were Amanda’s parents wedding glasses, the cake toppers were painted by Amanda to look like the couple and the “thislebee” cocktail was created by one of the groomsmen.  So many past memories were cherished and new memories created.

My favorite touches of the wedding day are those that are connected to Amanda’s grandmother. She was very close to her grandmother and her passing was very unexpected, three days after the couples engagement. Amanda knew she wanted to make her own wedding gown with her grandmothers help. She never got the chance to make the gown with her grandmother but a dear aunt filled those shoes in helping to finish the gown. Amanda said “It was all pretty awful, but finishing the dress was a nice memorial to her.” The dress was stunning and I can not believe she made it herself!

Her “something borrowed” was her grandmother’s favorite antique sterling silver dogwood bracelet and earrings. Her grandmother sold this set in a yard sale before moving cross country. Her best friend purchased them thinking her grandmother would regret selling her favorite jewelry. The grandmother never asked for the jewelry back but a family member recently remembered the friend having them. Now each of the granddaughters have this jewelry to incorporate into their weddings as their “something borrowed”. {so sweet!} Congratulations Ben & Amanda!

I love that the bride opted to have everyone choose their outfits. The different shades of purples are beautiful!

I knew Marty and Chelsea’s Newport Art Museum and Regatta Place wedding would be so much fun after our Pasta Making Engagement session! Chelsea is a musician and Marty loves to sail so the combination of the Art Museum and Regatta Place was the perfect combination for these two love birds. The ceremony was beautiful lead by Rev. Victoria Burdick. A touching piano piece was played mid ceremony for the couple by one of their friends. The whole place was in tears as he hit the last key on the piano. After the ceremony we took a few photos around the art museum then headed over to Regatta Place for a few more sunset shots!

My favorite moment of the evening was when Marty & Chelsea stepped away from each other during their first dance and proceeded to do a choreographed ribbon dance! What made this so fantastic was that Chelsea’s mother and aunts are all dance teachers and when Chelsea was little in class she would only play with the ribbon wands and never participated in class. As a hilarious surprise to the family they incorporated the ribbon wands into their wedding. {Epic!} Congratulations Marty & Chelsea!!
