The Providence Public Library is one of my favorite wedding venues especially for a wintertime fête! The inside is filled with historic details and the most beautiful light which streams in from the gigantic windows. Winter weddings in New England can be a challenge but this wedding absolutely nailed it with all the necessary winter accessories; winter whites, elegant blacks, twinkle lights and warm fuzzy fur!
Katie and Tom’s family were such a warm and welcoming bunch. I was excited to find out all the personal touches that the couple have added to their wedding. The bride chose to wear her mother’s cathedral length veil.Pieces of lace from the brides dress was also added to the veil to modernize it and to add a new “memory” to this family heirloom. I love when couples incorporate their parents or grandparents wedding “details” whether it be a piece of clothing, jewelry or even just pictures. It’s so nice to honor our past as we move forward into our future.
The bride’s family was heavily involved in the wedding which always makes the day extra special. The bride’s sister did a gorgeous job on the make-up for all the girls and Katie’s Aunt had nothing but loving and heartfelt wishes for the couple as she officiated their ceremony. Katie’s niece was the cutest flower girl there ever was with her puffy tulle dress and adorable headband. The most shocking was to find out the bride’s mother had made the cake AND created the sugar flowers. The cake was a carrot cake made from an old family recipe, Katie and Tom’s favorite.
The ceremony took place at dusk inside the gold and ivory upper room at the library. It was a warm and inviting ceremony, making you feel like you were at an intimate candlelit mass. After the ceremony the party continued in the ship room. Once dinner was served a special “Happy Birthday” song and cake for the bride’s grandmother was in order. She was definitely surprised! The dancing, dipping and festivities continued into the evening. Katie and Tom, Congratulations!
