A Classic OceanCliff Wedding | Newport, RI
Anglea and Trevor’s OceanCliff wedding was everything this couple could have dreamed of and more! The bride is a professional wedding planning for the Exquisite Events team here in Newport so I knew this was going to be an amazing event!
One of my new found loves to photograph are the invitation suites! I love placing them and adding all the little extras of ribbons and flowers. Angela and Trevor’s classic black and white suite was beautiful! The invitations were set to be mailed before the New Year so a tag that read “Happy 2017! The start of something wonderful” was affixed to the suite by a lovely blush dupioni silk ribbon. A great little personal well wishes to their guests.
Angela and her ‘maids wore custom PJ’s as they sipped champagne and began bridal prep in the gorgeous gatehouse at OceanCliff. The ladies all wore elegant black lace gowns made by J.Crew here in Rhode Island. The maid of honor, the bride’s sister, wore a flower crown as a nod to their families Polish heritage. Trevor was looking dapper in his custom suit made by Michael Hayes here in Newport. I just adored the black paisley fabric which lined the suit jacket. The Groom also had his monogram stitched onto the sleeve of his shirt as well as wear his initials on his cufflinks. As a gift all of the groomsmen were given matching monogramed socks and cufflinks.
The couple were married in the historic church of St. Mary’s in Newport. I loved how the couple met each other halfway down the aisle to unite and walk together to the alter. Family kisses and hugs were given at the top of the aisle before the couple proceeded to take their seats. The ceremony was officiated by not one but two family priests! The ceremony was both heartfelt and hilarious. Once they said “I Do” and sealed it with a kiss we went to Angela’s favorite Newport location – Brenton Point. The bridal party and couple alike were ready to get “the shot” despite the grey skies and chilly wind. It was fun and so worth it!
Okay, on to the stunning ballroom! Angela wanted to make the ballroom feel like an indoor garden. Lush floral arrangements made up of the softest whites and cremes accented with varying greens were littered throughout the room – long table scapes of low lying vines and bunches of flowers traveled down the farm tables while dainty centerpieces covered the round tables. The head table had a trellis which was straight from the “Secret Garden”, decorated with dripping greens and candles. The room also had little garden vignettes decorated with lounge furniture and planters fill with greenery and candles. The monogram was a theme which was carried throughout the event. From the invitations, to the table runners and napkins down to the smallest most delicious cookies.
There were so many wonderful little things throughout the day that were done for the couple or by the couple for their guests. The couple spent months creating these thoughtful bags. They included custom maps of the Newport Area; his (Cheese-Itz) and her (Hershey kisses with custom stickers) favor bags; personalized “emergency” kits; a candle from Shore Soap Co. (A Newport CO.) with custom matches; a bottle of local Del’s lemonade and two water bottles with their custom monogram. Speaking of monograms, the couple had the beautiful monogramed linen napkins given to them that day by a beloved client. The next surprise was for Angela! Trevor made an appearance onstage alongside the band to sing a custom ballad for “His Angela” which was so thoughtful and sweet. On the flipside, Trevor had a surprise coming from his twin brother; A toy car, which is the only thing that ever caused arguments between them, was given to him along with one of the best speeches I have heard. The last surprise was the a grilled cheese food truck! (Um how awesome!?) The truck was there at the end of the evening after the dancing had ended. Needless to say, it was a major hit with everyone.
